Notes from Emails.

I found my walk along The Street from just East of Plumtree to
the Hall Farm cottages, including Peacehaven, Fen Lane and Spring
Lane a very positive experience. Apart from one resident who
ranted about the lies told at the inaugural meeting (I explained
that the Plan was the result of that meeting, but that it was
independent from the organizers of same - which made him most
interested), everyone I spoke to had a positive attitude towards
our work. There was one (very) elderly gentleman who was adamant
that he had too much on his plate to bother with the Q, so in the
end I didn't deliver it. The rain kept off, I enjoyed the walk,
had many pleasant conversations so a most enjoyable afternoon. I
have around a dozen to re-visit, which I will do tomorrow and
Monday, and every one was happy for me to collect next Saturday
(except for Peacehaven, but they're all happy for me to return on
Thursday).

Distributed the questionnaires (yes all 4!) the people seemed
fairly positive, one address will be away until the 25th; I
advised I would pick it up then, the rest this coming
weekend.

Met some nice people and saw some lovely gardens! Not keen on the
dog at Meadow Cottage - he was loose in the garden and seemed
keen to keep me out. Went back today and the gates were open but
the dog was loose and started to come after me. So that one
hasn't been delivered yet! Found a house in Church View not on
the list - No 21 - so have used the spare given to me at the
meeting and put an A on a listed number. Had some really nice
responses - one lady said I wasn't expecting it to look so good -
another said "someone has been working really hard - its bound
and everything!" People have appreciated the personal touch of it
being personally delivered and collected.

Been up to my eyeballs in Fun Day meetings, last minute changes
of plan, arranging family visits -- Oh -- and in between
delivering Parish Plan Questionnaires ;) Started on Sunday and
found I had far too many "not in's" -- decided that I wouldn't
use up all the envelopes and more ! Went back on Monday and found
most of them in and finished up the last few on Tuesday. I've had
to post four through the letterbox in envelopes. I had one chap
who absolutely refused to take it saying "I've spent 20 years
trying to get things done in Marham and nobody wants to know ---
you'll have about the same success, Come back in 50 years and
things will still be exactly the same." ---------- ------ I think
he had a slightly negative view of our efforts ?? Everybody else
seemed quite positive (2 had been to the website) ---- or curious
(6) ---- or didn't really know what it was all about (3) (One of
them had only moved in about 3 weeks ago). I have one person who
is partially sighted and may need help - if his son doesn't come
to stay over this coming weekend. I said I would check with him
and if necessary sit down and read through the questions with him
and take down his replies. I also have one other person, who I
think has a problem with reading and writing and I tactfully
suggested that I would go around and run through the
questionnaire with him.

I have only had to post 1 through a door, the rest I was able to
deliver by hand. Everyone was positive except one couple I'm not
sure about. They said "I'll do it but it won't make any
difference!". Is that positive? Should I be concerned that there
is no update from Rick or Derek? How are you guys getting
on?

I've heard today that the gentleman who didn't want a
Questionnaire has since died. That's a hazard we hadn't thought
about!
